The Heidi Search Center WordPress Website Overhaul

The Challenge

The Heidi Search Center is a non-profit organization that helps children get out of dangerous situation where they have been separated from loved ones. They were in desperate need on donations and their current website provider was holding them hostage. Even though their website was in WordPress, he would not allow them to make updates on their own. We know we had to help empower them to save IT costs and get the direct access to their content updates that they wanted.

About

Concept Incarnate was willing to help with a pro-bono website. Just because we were designing and developing it pro-bono, we did not want to cut any corners because their mission was too important, and we never shortcut design. In fact, we gave them more features than they probably would have got at cost.

We created a mock-up for the homepage with Donations as a top priority, because without donations, they can’t help find people. The second priority was to help people find missing loved ones. Part of the design/build included a custom post type for each missing person, which local police would often browse through to keep updated on potential leads.

This project also demanded some IT help, picking a new server and setting it up, as they had no in-house IT.

Why Concept Incarnate was the Best Choice

We had collected many non-profit websites under our belt, and we were familiar with the common needs of this sector.

Why We Chose This Project

This website was actually produced during a busy design season, but with such an time-conscious need, we needed to help them, even if it brought on some late nights and weekends. Even so, it was very enjoyable to aid in their cause. They had better things to worry about; a website did not need to be one of them.
