Accessibility

Concept Incarnate recognizes the importance of all user types being able to independently navigate a website. Even though it is not necessary to publish an accessibility statement, and it is rather more important to simply follow accessibility practices, we wanted to make sure that our concerned viewers knew we took accessibility under consideration.

Measures to Support Accessibility

Generally when we produce a website, we go through the typical efforts to have a clean HTML5 Outline, to give all HTML tags, like navigation blocks, footers, or sidebars self-identified headings, add alt attributes to images, and other common practices. We have not done a formal self-audit on this front for some time now and tend to test as we go, but we plan to audit and self-certify the website. We actually do not want to make a huge deal about it, as we are not trying to virtue signal, we just want to make sure everything is up to snuff.

Conformance Status

The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) defines requirements for designers and developers to improve accessibility for people with disabilities. It defines three levels of conformance: Level A, Level AA, and Level AAA.

This website is partially conformant with WCAG 2.1 level A, up to AAA. Partially conformant means that some parts of the content do not fully conform to the accessibility standard. Upon our audit, we can give a better indication of where we fully land on the spectrum and if we feel we need to aim higher; it will likely be A or AA status, as AAA is normally a level needed for government entities and as a design agency, we do want to be able to use a broader colour pallet than AAA allows for. That being said, we might strive to meet some AAA guidelines nonetheless.
