Project Case Study
Low Budget Window Restoration LMS Website
The Challenge
This client came to us without any established branding, but with a peice of paper with a basic website sketch. They knew they wanted a website, and bought a few things to get started, but were not confident in actually building the website on their own. The client also had a very specific artistic vision in mind.
About
With the sketch and the desired arts and crafts style in mind, Concept Incarnate proceeded to offer the client 3 different design options: one being the artistic style, one being a blue print style, and one being an illustration style. The client did choose the design that was in-lined with their stylistic preferences, but we always try to offer options none-the-less; we think showing people options, if nothing else, helps people confirm the choice that they suspected they would like. We also dove deep into the client’s style preference to convert one of his photos meant for the top of the homepage into a water-colour like painting.
Getting the design done was the simpler challenge. Working on the Learning Management System took extra attention and much time. The LMS plug-in chosen by the client did not fully match the client’s vision, so we did have to pull some objects out that looked clunky and then manually add them back in, with the preference design aesthetic. The base-scope of the project was to offer a paid-subscription based guide for window restoration, but the project evolved to include some logo design, input of other guides of repair, and building out a WooCommerce subscription check out method. The base LMS did have a check out function, but it did not meet the technical vision of the client.
Why Concept Incarnate was the Best Choice
This client had a very specific vision in mind and high-end tastes. A common developer or doing this DIY would just not do the trick to make the client happy. He even joked about having another crazy request, knowing how specific he was, but also knowing we had the patience to give him exactly what he wanted. We strive to give our clients their visions, as what we design is for them, not us; we are just a guide to help them get to their destination.
Why We Chose This Project
We like working with small and just-forming businesses as it gives us a chance to help build their brand from scratch, and help with their formation. This client also had some high-end tastes and was willing to fund things like designer-fonts, to reach his vision.
